Arunachal Pradesh


North-east India is called unearthed paradise. Seven States of this region together are called 'Land of Seven Sisters.Arunachal is the most attractive and pleasant place of north-east India. Another name of this region 'Land of the rising sun or Land of dawn lit mountains'. Arunachal came into being in 1987; before this it used to be called North-East Frontier Agency, in short NEFA. To the north ofArunachal is China; to the south is Nagaland or Nagabhumi and Assam; to the East Myanmar and to the west is Bhutan.


Manpa, Adi, Aptani, Wangehu etc. are among familiar tribes ofArunachal. Arunachal Pradesh consists of 16 districts namely Tawang, West Kameng, East Kameng, Kurungkame,Papunpare, High Subansiri, Low Subansiri, West Siyang, Hgh Siyang, East Siyang, Dibang Valley, Lohit, Anaja, Changlang, Tiraptorap.


Border village Valukpong on the bank of Jiyavorli rive is the first gateway to Arunachal Pradesh. Special attraction of Arunachal Pradesh are mountain, hill, dense forest, strong-current river, water falls, pleasant valley, flowers of different colours, orchid of different species, various types of wild animals and unparallel natural beauty. Among Arunachal cities Bomdila in district of West Kament is the densely populated one situated at a height of 8,500 ft. Main attraction of these cities are two caves. In the market area there is a very old cave named lower monastery and at the summit of the hill is upper monastery named Natun cave. Besides there Are Buddha stadium, shopping centre. In Dirang district there are hot springs, Nisma Vunga Yak Breeding Farm. Sangvalley where migragory throng is 6 km. from Dirang.

Mela Pass: Famous Mela Pass 6 km. from Dirang is at a height of 13,721 ft. On the pass there is a gateway to Tawang district. There is a temple ofLord Shiva on the hill here. Near The Shiva temple there is a small lake. At a little distance there is Paradise Lake. Most of the time it remains covered with snow.



Yashawantgarh is at a little distance from Mela pass.This memorial is built in the memory of Yashawant Rao died in Indo-China war in 1962. At a short distance there are innumerable abandoned bunkers. Numberless roses, rhododendron flowers, infinite unknown flowers bloom in the hill. The most attractive, worth-seeing place of Arunachal Pradesh is the pleasant most natural beauty and world Famous Buddhist monastery. Manpa tribe is in majority here. Mountain-cave ofthis place is the second biggest one in Asia.


Just in front of the mountain-cave is the famous Namalialalas Museum. Main attraction of this place is craft centre. Near Tawang there are some worth-seeing lakes. Among them Pitisohert Lake (Madhuri Lake) is worth mentioning. Itanagar, the capital of Arunachal Pradesh is situated in Papunpare district. Maximum Nishi tribe live in this district. Their villages are neat and clean. Museum of Itanagar is very attractive. Different tribes are displayed in this museum by means of models. Sadar zero in low Subansiri district is a beautiful hill city. Parashuram Kunda is on the Lohit river in the district of Lohit. Manmau of Changla district is the gateway to the Namdafa forest. River Namdafa rises from the foot-hill of Dafabhum mountain peak. This river has mingled with the Noyadinghi river of Changland district. Again Noyadinghi has mingled with the Lohit river. Lohit

Lohit river has fallen into the Brahmaputra. The sanctuary Namdafa National Park or Namdaf National Garden is named after the Namdafa river. Namdafa forest is a habitat of big cats, elephants, bison, barking deer, wild dog and deer. Besides there are various kinds of birds in this forest. Himalayan panda, bintur etc. are seen in the region situated at a height 7-8 thousand ft. and sometimes tiger, snow leopard, clouded leopard, and Arunachal creature mithun considered valuable and holy is also seen. A great part of Namdafa hill remains covered with snow throughout the year.
